It’s on to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals for the third-ranked UNC women’s soccer team, which defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 3-0 on Sunday at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.

Senior forward Alex Kimball scored less than eight minutes into the match, as the Tar Heels picked up their third win of the year against Virginia Tech.

That lead was doubled less than three minutes into the second half when freshman Brianna Pinto tapped in a rebound on a shot from Kimball.  Pinto then found Dorian Bailey with an assist not long after that–putting UNC ahead by the final margin of 3-0.

The Tar Heels tallied 16 shots in the match, compared to only three for the Hokies.
