The second-ranked UNC women’s soccer team put on an absolute clinic on Sunday at Dorrance Field, defeating the No. 19 Michigan Wolverines by a score of 4-0 in order to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals for the 31st time in program history.

Isabel Cox had the first two-goal game of her career for UNC, while Lotte Wubben-Moy and Zoe Redei each added a goal apiece for the Tar Heels–who improved to 22-1-1 this season with the victory.

Cox’s first goal came just six minutes into the match, giving UNC a lead it would hold on to the rest of the day.

Wubben-Moy then scored later in the half to hand the Tar Heels a 2-0 halftime lead, while Cox and Redei added insurance goals after the break.

Michigan (17-6-1) managed only seven shots in the match compared to 19 for the Tar Heels.

UNC is now just three wins away from ending a six-year national championship drought, the longest span in the program’s storied history.
