A goal in the 60th minute by Dallas Dorosy led Florida State to a 1-0 victory over UNC on Sunday afternoon in the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament Championship game.
The loss ended the Tar Heels’ quest to capture their first national title since 2012, which is the longest drought in the program’s storied history.
In front of a crowd of over 12,000 fans at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, UNC (21-4-2)battled hard throughout the entirety of the game–tying the Seminoles (20-4-3) at eight shots apiece.
Dorosy’s goal ultimately proved to be the difference, however, as the Florida State defense was able to keep the Tar Heels from scoring down the stretch.
