Led by a barrage of 16 three-pointers, the University of Maine pulled off an 85-73 upset on Sunday at Carmichael Arena over the UNC women’s basketball team.
The teams were tied 18-18 after the first quarter, but Maine pulled away and led by as many as 21 points during the second quarter. From there, the Tar Heels struggled to mount any type of comeback.
Janelle Bailey led UNC with 21 points in the game, while guard Stephanie Watts added 16.
The Tar Heels fell to 5-4 this season. Maine improved to 5-2.
