UNC head women’s basketball coach Courtney Banghart announced Monday that the Tar Heels have added both Sam Miller and Sean Sullivan to the team staff.

Miller will serve as Director of Scouting and Video Operations and Sullivan will serve as Director of Player Personnel Development and Recruiting Operations.

Most recently, Miller was an assistant coach and video coordinator at Duke from 2016-20. He has also worked on the men’s coaching staff at Western Michigan and been a video assistant in the NBA G-League.

“It became clear throughout the interview process that Sam is just the person to lead our Video and Scouting efforts,” Banghart said. “He is deeply committed to our sport and has earned valuable experience, both in the film room and as an assistant coach, in the ACC. He is a proven worker and a dedicated teammate.

“We use film extensively, for both player and team growth, and Sam’s addition to our staff will ensure our continued success on all levels,” she continued. “He will lead our scouting efforts and his experience in the ACC will be an immediate asset.”

Sullivan spent the last two seasons as the Director of Video for the women’s basketball program at Pitt and was the Director of Scouting and Video Technology at Penn State for two years prior to that. He also spent a summer as a video coordinator for USA Basketball, where he was part of the women’s team that won the silver medal at the 2015 Pan-Am Games.

“Sean is a rising star in women’s basketball,” Banghart said. “He has a dedicated work ethic, a comprehensive skill set, and an infectious personality that will ensure him a valuable role in our program. He has spent time in both the ACC and the Big 10 as the leader in video operations, and is ready to utilize all that he’s learned to be a great asset to our player and team development.

“Sean is responsible for helping to develop and progress our players and team, assist in scouting, utilize film to ensure practice preparation, and to provide support in recruiting operations,” she added. “He will impact our program in countless ways.”
