Alessia Russo’s goal in the 48th minute of action on Friday night at Dorrance Field propelled the No. 2 UNC women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Colorado in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
This marked the third time since 2014 that these two teams have met in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, with UNC having won all three matches.
Russo’s goal was her 12th of the season and her sixth over the last four games.
Despite only scoring once, the Tar Heels (21-1-1) tallied 20 shots in the match compared to only five for Colorado (12-8-2)
