The UNC women’s basketball team made it four consecutive victories to open the season on Friday night at Carmichael Arena, defeating the Elon Phoenix in blowout fashion by a score of 76-46.
Four Tar Heels scored in double figures, led by 18 points and a team-high 10 rebounds from reigning ACC Freshman of the Week Malu Tshitenge.
Joining Tshitenge in double figures were Taylor Koenen (14 points), Medinah Muhammad (14) and Janelle Bailey (12).
The UNC defense held Elon (2-2) to just 25.5 percent shooting from the floor, representing their best performance in that category so far this season.
After taking a 15-point lead into halftime, the Tar Heels again outscored the Phoenix by 15 in the second half.
