Another day, another win for the second-seeded UNC women’s lacrosse team–which defeated the No. 3 seed Virginia Tech Hokies 14-8 in Friday night’s ACC Tournament Semifinals at Koskinen Stadium in Durham.

After trailing 3-2 early in the game, the Tar Heels (14-3) reeled off an 8-0 run spanning the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half. Virginia Tech (13-6) never pulled the lead within six goals after that point.

Marie McCool, Jamie Ortega and Ela Hazar each scored three goals to lead the way for UNC, while Maggie Bill added two goals of her own.

The win marks the fourth consecutive year–and eighth time in the last nine–the Tar Heels will play in the ACC Tournament Final. It also improves UNC’s all-time record against Virginia Tech in the sport to 26-0.
