The top-ranked UNC women’s lacrosse team played its first road game of the season on Saturday in Blacksburg, dominating the Virginia Tech Hokies by an outrageous score of 22-1.

Jamie Ortega racked up four goals and three assists for the Tar Heels (7-0, 3-0 ACC), while Katie Hoeg added six points with three goals and three assists.

Fellow Tewaaraton Award watch list member Scottie Rose Growney chipped in three goals and an assist in a game UNC controlled from start to finish.

The Tar Heels out-shot the Hokies 31-11 and had 10 different players score at least once, with seven players having multiple goals.

UNC improves to 30-0 all-time against Virginia Tech with the victory. The Hokies fell to 2-3 overall this season and dropped to 0-3 inside the ACC.

For the Tar Heels, it’s the program’s 14th consecutive win in a streak dating back to last season.

Next on the schedule for UNC is another game against Virginia Tech on Thursday, after that contest was rescheduled earlier this week.
