The high-powered UNC women’s lacrosse team showed once again why it’s the overwhelming favorite to win a national championship this season, rolling to an 18-4 victory on Friday in Chapel Hill over No. 4 seed Notre Dame as part of the ACC Tournament semifinals.

Stars Jamie Ortega and Katie Hoeg each tallied seven points in the win, with Ortega scoring six goals and dishing out an assist and Hoeg scoring once while handing out six assists.

Hoeg set a new record for assists in a single ACC Tournament, as her total is now up to 13 through the Tar Heels’ first two games–breaking her own record of 12 set back in 2019.

Caitlyn Wurzburger and Scottie Rose Growney both added three goals apiece, on a day where UNC jumped out to an 11-2 lead by halftime.

Notre Dame (9-6) scored the first two goals of the day, then was held scoreless for 47 straight minutes by a Tar Heel defense that has been unbreakable all year long.

With the win, UNC moves to 17-0 this season and extends its school-record winning streak to 24 games.
