The UNC women’s lacrosse team — which has won its last 25 games dating back to 2020 — earned the No. 1 overall seed on Sunday for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Head coach Jenny Levy’s squad is a perfect 18-0 this season and recently steamrolled through the ACC Tournament for the program’s fifth consecutive conference title.

UNC is the ACC’s automatic qualifier for the event and will host games at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill on Friday May 14 and Sunday May 16.

The Tar Heels have a first-round bye and will begin play on Sunday against the winner of Friday’s game in Chapel Hill between Johns Hopkins (8-6) and James Madison (11-4).

This is UNC’s 16th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and 22nd overall. The Tar Heels are also a top five overall seed for the 12th year in a row.

UNC is seeking the program’s first national title since 2016 and third overall.
