The UNC softball team closed out its four-game series against Notre Dame on Sunday with a 2-1 victory at Anderson Stadium in Chapel Hill.

Brittany Pickett was fantastic on the mound, striking out seven Fighting Irish hitters and allowing just four hits on the way to her 11th complete game of the season.

The Tar Heels also received solo home runs from Kiersten Licea and Kristina Burkhardt.

Burkhardt’s homer came in the second inning just after Notre Dame (9-7, 3-5 ACC) had taken the lead on a solo home run by Karina Gaskins.

Licea then put the Tar Heels (10-8, 5-3 ACC) ahead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Pickett kept the Fighting Irish from mounting any kind of comeback.

This gave UNC the series split after winning on Friday and Sunday, while Notre Dame swept Saturday’s doubleheader.
