UNC junior catcher Taylor Greene was the lone Tar Heel selected to the Academic All-ACC Softball Team earlier this week, an honor which takes performance both on and off the field into account.
The native of Milton, Georgia — who transferred to UNC from Arkansas prior to this past season — is majoring in Economics.
She started 34 of the Tar Heels’ 40 games behind the plate and recorded a perfect fielding percentage. In addition, she batted .261 with four home runs and 21 RBIs.
Greene was a member of the 2020 SEC Academic Honor Roll with Arkansas last season, but this represents her first honor of this kind as a member of the ACC.
She was one of 38 players selected to the Academic All-ACC team, which requires student-athletes to have a 3.0 grade point average in both their most recent semester and as a cumulative average for their collegiate careers.
Clemson and Duke tied for the most players selected in the conference with six apiece.
UNC went just 14-26 on the field this past season with a 10-19 mark inside the conference. The Tar Heels played well at home — going 13-9 at Anderson Stadium — but were 0-14 on the road and 1-3 in neutral site games.
