Inclement weather in the forecast has forced the postponement of the Carolina Classic softball event this weekend at South Carolina, which was scheduled as UNC’s season-opening series.

The Tar Heels were supposed to begin their regular season on Friday with a doubleheader against UNCG and No. 19 South Carolina. A second game against UNCG was scheduled for Saturday, while the rematch against the Gamecocks would have been played on Sunday.

Next on the schedule for UNC is a three-game series at home against Boston College beginning on Thursday, Feb. 18.
