UNC senior attacker Katie Hoeg set a new single-game ACC Tournament record with seven assists on Wednesday at Dorrance Field, guiding the top-ranked UNC women’s lacrosse team to a 19-6 quarterfinal victory over Louisville.

Hoeg broke her own record of six assists, which she set back in 2019 against Virginia Tech, on a day where the Tar Heels (16-0) dominated from start to finish.

Both teams scored goals in the first three minutes of the game, but UNC then rattled off six consecutive goals to go up 7-1 and never looked back.

Scottie Rose Growney and Tayler Warehime each scored four goals to lead the Tar Heels in that category, while Jamie Ortega and Caitlyn Wurzburger both added three goals apiece.

The Tar Heels led 11-5 at halftime and would go on to let Louisville score just once in the second half.

With the win, UNC has now won its last 23 games in a streak that includes a perfect 7-0 record during the shortened 2020 campaign.

The Tar Heels will take on No. 4 seed Notre Dame on Friday in the semifinals. That game is set to begin at noon.
