Behind seven goals from Jamie Ortega and eight points from Katie Hoeg, the top-ranked UNC women’s lacrosse team made easy work out of the Louisville Cardinals on Thursday night at Dorrance Field–winning by a score of 19-7.

The Tar Heels are now 6-0 this season (2-0 ACC) and have won all of their games by at least six goals.

Hoeg finished with two goals and a team-high six assists for UNC to move into a tie for second on the school’s all-time points list, while all of Ortega’s seven goals came in the first half as the Tar Heels built a commanding 13-2 halftime lead. Scottie Rose Growney also added four goals for head coach Jenny Levy’s squad.

It was the first women’s lacrosse game ever televised on the ACC Network, as well.

With the loss, Louisville falls to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
