A clean 4-0 sweep over the NC State Wolfpack on Friday evening at the Cary Tennis Center lifted the sixth-ranked UNC men’s tennis team to the ACC Tournament Semifinals for the fifth consecutive year.
The Tar Heels (21-4) won the doubles point with a pair of hard-fought 7-5 victories, before clinching the match with three consecutive straight set wins in the singles portion of the match–those coming from the trio of Robert Kelly, William Blumberg and Blaine Boyden.
“It’s a little bit like a snowball when you get the momentum and start feeling good,” Kelly said afterwards. “Hopefully we can carry that on for tomorrow.”
