The second-ranked UNC men’s tennis team picked up a huge 4-0 victory over No. 7 NC State in Raleigh on Wednesday, earning yet another win over a ranked opponent while also knocking off a hated rival on the road in convincing fashion.
Rinky Hijikata and Benjamin Sigouin helped clinch the doubles point for the Tar Heels (12-1, 2-0 ACC) to begin the match. From there, Sigouin (6-3, 6-1), Brian Cernoch (6-4, 6-3) and Josh Peck (6-2, 6-1) clinched the team victory with wins in singles play.
NC State dropped to 10-4 overall and 1-1 inside the ACC with the loss.
