The Chapel Hill Police Department turned to the public’s help on Friday in its search for a missing teenager.

Police shared an alert Friday morning asking for helping locating Mariana Orrego. The 17-year-old Chapel Hill resident was last seen on Thursday around 6:30 p.m. — although the department did specify where. Orrego may be in the Durham area, said the release, and is not believed to be in danger.

As of Friday afternoon, Chapel Hill Police had no updates to share on locating the teenager.

The 17-year-old is described by police as 5-foot-6 and weighing around 120 pounds. Orrego has a butterfly tattoo on one ankle and has nose piercings.
