**UPDATE: Chapel Hill Police shared an update on Thursday night saying Michael Joseph Symons has been found safe.**
The Chapel Hill Police Department issued a call for the public’s help in locating a community member on Thursday.
A release from the department said 78-year-old Michael Joseph Symons has been missing since Tuesday night. He was last seen in the 700 block of North Estes Drive in Chapel Hill around 8 p.m.
Symon is described as 5-foot-7 and weighing approximately 175 lbs. Chapel Hill Police’s release said he has brown eyes, gray hair, a beard, a mustache and wears glasses. Symon drives a silver 2018 Ford F-150 SuperCrew pickup truck with the North Carolina license plate BAJ-3012.
The police department’s release said Symons suffers from cognitive impairment.
