UPDATE: On Sunday, January 17, the Town of Chapel Hill shared a release at 11 a.m. saying Charles Edwards has been found and is safe.

Authorities in Chapel Hill are asking the public for assistance finding a missing man from the South Merritt Mill Road neighborhood.

A release from the Chapel Hill Police Department Friday night said it is looking for Charles William Edwards. The 72-year-old is described as 5-foot-4 and weighing around 115 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.

According to the police, Edwards was last seen on Thursday, January 14 by a neighbor. The estimated time he was last seen was 7:30 p.m.

The Chapel Hill Police Department is asking anyone with information on Edwards’ whereabouts since Thursday to call 911.
