This series of posts will be made monthly on Chapelboro to help inform our community when local government meetings will be. All meeting days, locations and times may be subject to change. Check respective town websites for additional information.

As we exit the Thanksgiving holiday and move toward the winter break, local governments are trying to pack in their final business meetings of 2021. There’s a lot to get done before the holidays come around including annual reports, planning meetings and more.

Here’s a look at all the final local government meetings of 2021 across the community.

Chapel Hill Town Government

Chapel Hill Town Council already met virtually on the first of the month where they discussed long-term budget strategy, annual fiscal review and updates to the American Rescue Plan for the town.

The council also looked at several proposals for upcoming developments including Trinity Court, the community splash pad and a closed hearing examining new renderings of the 150 East Rosemary development.

The town council will meet one more time this year, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8. The meeting will be virtual. The town council has not yet released their agenda for the meeting.

Carrboro Town Government

Carrboro Town Council will meet once this month at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7. The council has not yet released an agenda or meeting details for the meeting.

The meeting will be held in person at the Carrboro Town Hall at 301 West Main Street. For updated meeting details and agenda items when they are released, click here.

Hillsborough Town Government

The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners is also only scheduled to meet once this month on Monday, December 13 at 7.pm. The meeting will take place in person at the Town Hall Annex Board Meeting Room at 105 East Corbin Street. The board has not yet released an agenda for this meeting.

The public will be able to view and listen to the meeting via live streaming video on the town’s YouTube channel.

Orange County Government

The Orange County Board of Commissioners will meet twice this month. The first is an organizational business meeting on Monday, December 6. That meeting will be held in Hillsborough at the Whitted Building at 300 West Tryon Street.

The second business meeting be on Tuesday, December 14 in Chapel Hill at the Southern Human Services Center on 2501 Homestead Road.

Both meetings will start around 7 p.m.

Chatham County Government

The Chatham County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to have a full slate of meetings in December. The board already met on the first of this month and is scheduled to have two more meetings before winter break.

The BOCC will meet again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8 for a special meeting. This meeting will be held at the Historic Courthouse Courtroom at 40 East Chatham Street in Pittsboro.

The final business meeting of the year will also be held at the courthouse at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 20.
