This series of posts will be made monthly on Chapelboro to help inform our community when local government meetings will be. All meeting days, locations and times may be subject to change. Check respective town websites for additional information.

Much focus around our local governments in Orange and Chatham counties will be on Election Day. But there’s still much more happening for the rest of November! Elected officials are set to continue working through full agendas as they discuss end of year reports, review development proposals and much more ahead of the winter holidays and an extended break.

If you’re looking to attend or tune in to meetings, here is a full list of those scheduled across our community for the month of November.

Chapel Hill Town Government

Due to Election Day and the Thanksgiving holiday, the Chapel Hill Town Council is slated to only meet twice this month.

The town’s elected officials will conduct business virtually on Wednesday, November 10 and Wednesday, November 17. Both meetings are expected to begin at 7 p.m.

The public is encouraged to register for Town of Chapel Hill meetings in webinar fashion if they want to participate in public comment, but all videos can be live-streamed and accessed after completion on the town website in the following days.

Carrboro Town Government

Similar to the Chapel Hill Town Council, the Carrboro Town Council is set to only meet twice in November.

The town council is slated for meetings on November 9, and November 16 — both of which are Tuesdays. Each business meeting has an expected start time of 7 p.m.

The Town of Carrboro is continuing to meet virtually as well. Video of the meetings can be streamed through the Town of Carrboro’s website and YouTube account.

Hillsborough Town Government

The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners meets once every two weeks, with that pattern continuing in November. With the elected officials meeting in the last week of October, it means they will not meet until Monday, November 8. The second business meeting for commissioners is scheduled for Monday, November 22.

Each of the Hillsborough meetings are set to be held virtually and will begin streaming at 7 p.m. on the town’s YouTube page.

Orange County Government

Because Election Day this year only matters for the local municipal governments, the Orange County Board of Commissioners’ meeting schedule is not affected on the first Tuesday of November.

The board is slated to meet on Tuesday, November 2, as well as Tuesday, November 16, for a regular business meeting. Each are expected to begin at 7 p.m. and will be conducted virtually.

Additionally, the commissioners have a work session this month. The virtual meeting is set to be held Thursday, November 11, and will also start around 7 p.m.

Chatham County Government

The Chatham County Board of Commissioners is continuing its streak of meeting twice a month instead of just once due to a full slate of projects and agenda items it’s set to review.

The county board kicks off November with a meeting on Monday, with a work session beginning at 2 p.m. before advancing to the business portion of the meeting. The commissioners are set to meet again two weeks later on Monday, November 15, at the same time.

Additionally, the Chatham County Commissioners are holding a special work session on Tuesday, November 16, just to discuss capital improvement projects around the area. That meeting is set to begin at 9 a.m.

Both business meetings are set to be held in-person at the Historic Chatham County Courthouse in Pittsboro. The CIP work session, however, will be held at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center in Pittsboro.
