2021 began with a flurry of local government meetings and important discussions among the Orange and Chatham County elected officials. Many of those important topics will carry over into the month of February, including continuing coronavirus response, economic development opportunities and more.
Chapel Hill Town Government
The Chapel Hill Town Council is set to hold its annual retreat for members in February, with the days of February 4, 5 and 8 marked to hold the virtual gathering.
Additionally, two business meetings are on the town’s schedule for the month. Both are planned for Wednesdays, February 17 and February 24, and both are set to begin virtually at 7 p.m.
The public is encouraged to register for these Town of Chapel Hill meetings in webinar fashion if they want to participate in public comment, but all videos can be live-streamed and accessed after completion on the town website in the following days.

Carrboro Town Government
The Carrboro Town Council is set to meet each week in February, meaning four meetings are on the schedule. The group is slated to conduct business every Tuesday night: February 2, February 9, February 16 and February 23.
All four meetings are set to begin at 7 p.m. and will be conducted virtually.

Hillsborough Town Government
The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners continues its bi-weekly schedule, meaning its set to meet twice in February. The board plans to meet virtually on Monday February 8 and Monday February 22.
Both business meetings are set to begin streaming at 7 p.m. on the town’s YouTube page.

Orange County Government
The Orange County Board of Commissioners has its first meeting of the month early on, as its first business meeting is set for Tuesday, February 2. Another meeting is scheduled for two weeks later on Tuesday, February 16. Both meetings will be conducted virtually and are set to begin at 7 p.m.

Chatham County Government
The Chatham County Board of Commissioners will meet just once in February: Monday February 15. The meeting, which will combine both a work session and a business meeting, will be held in-person at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center in Pittsboro. It is set to begin at 2 p.m.
