As we enter June, a summer break is around the corner for most of our local governments in Orange and Chatham Counties. But there is a lot to get before those weeks off. This month, elected officials will look to approve budget proposals, review some high-profile economic development projects, celebrate Juneteenth and much more. June could also be the final month of fully remote meetings for some local governments, as the state of emergency in Orange County is set to expire on June 31, meaning in-person meetings would return in the fall.
Here is a full list of the scheduled meetings for elected officials across our community this month.
Chapel Hill Town Government
After meeting once a week in May, the Chapel Hill Town Council will begin June with four consecutive weeks of meetings and work sessions.
The town council will hold a hybrid work session and business meeting on Wednesday June 2, with a focus on the budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year. That meeting is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
On June 9, 16, and 23, the Chapel Hill Town Council will conduct business meetings beginning at 7 p.m.
The public is encouraged to register for Town of Chapel Hill meetings in webinar fashion if they want to participate in public comment, but all videos can be live-streamed and accessed after completion on the town website in the following days.
