Following a 75-63 victory over Kentucky this past Saturday in the CBS Sports Classic, the UNC men’s basketball team moved up five spots to No. 17 in Monday’s edition of the Associated Press Top 25 rankings.

The Tar Heels are 5-2 this season and have won back-to-back games against NC Central and Kentucky since losing two in a row against ranked opponents in Texas and Iowa.

Gonzaga remains the No. 1 team in the country this week, followed by Baylor, Kansas, Iowa and Villanova. The rest of the top 10 includes: Houston, West Virginia, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Texas.

No. 16 Virginia is the highest-ranked team from the ACC this week, with No. 17 UNC, No. 20 Duke, No. 21 Florida State and No. 24 Virginia Tech giving the league five teams in the top 25.

UNC is set to travel to Raleigh on Tuesday for a rivalry game at NC State, before an eight-day break for the holidays.
