UNC senior Ryan Gerard and sophomore Austin Greaser were each named Thursday to the Academic All-ACC men’s golf team.

Gerard is a Raleigh native with majors in both economics and geography, while Greaser is a sophomore from Vandalia, Ohio studying statistics and analysis.

The duo was part of a UNC team which tied for fifth at the NCAA Championships last month, giving the program its best finish at the event since taking third back in 1993.

Gerard will return for a fifth year of eligibility next season thanks to the shortened 2020 campaign. He currently boasts the third-best career stroke average in UNC history at 72.04.

Greaser is one of just six players to earn spots on both the All-ACC team and the Academic All-ACC team this season. He took home a fifth-place finish at the ACC Championship this season and put together the eighth-best single-season stroke average in school history with a mark of 71.32.

Eligibility for the Academic All-ACC team requires players to have a 3.0 grade point average in both their most recent semester and as a cumulative average throughout their collegiate careers.
