UNC freshman Austin Greaser set a new tournament record at the Ohio Amateur Championship this past week, winning the event with a score of 18-under par over 72 holes.
Greaser broke the previous record by two strokes. That record was previously set back in 2000 by Ben Curtis, who would later go on to win the 2003 British Open as a professional.
The margin of victory for Greaser was a whopping eight strokes over second-place finisher Bryce Haney of Huber Heights, Ohio.
Over the four rounds, Greaser tallied 19 birdies, two eagles and two bogeys.
Greaser had a pair of finishes inside the top six for the Tar Heels last season, but looks poised to contend for more wins next season if this performance is any indication of what’s to come in the future.
