The UNC men’s golf program received a huge boost on Wednesday with the signing of two highly-touted recruits in the Class of 2021.

David Ford, a native of Peachtree City, GA ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the country, is joining head coach Andrew DiBitetto’s squad alongside Narayan “Nanu” Mohan–a Charlotte product who has been ranked as high as No. 7 nationally.

Ford was named a First Team All-American by the AJGA in 2020, a year after earning honorable mention recognition in 2019.

Mohan won the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association’s 3A state championship as a freshman and was named the Independent Tribune’s 2018 Boys Golfer of the Year.

For a UNC program that has been on the rise over the last four seasons–reaching the NCAA Championships or finishing in the top 20 nationally each year–this represents the next step in reaching elite status.

“We are working to sign student-athletes of the highest quality who are extremely competitive and have a relentless drive to improve and win in all phases of life ,” DiBitetto said. “We don’t want players who just want to be at Carolina. And we don’t want young men who only want to win. We want a roster that wants to win here at the University of North Carolina. David and Narayan are the perfect fit and we look forward to doing everything we can to help them reach their goals and dreams.”
