The top-seeded UNC women’s tennis team cruised past No. 16 seed Cal by a score of 4-0 on Sunday in Orlando, as part of the third round of this year’s NCAA Tournament.
After winning the doubles point to begin the match, UNC then won three consecutive singles contests courtesy of Sara Daavettila (6-4, 6-3), Fiona Crawley (6-2, 6-3) and Elizabeth Scotty (6-2, 7-5).
The win moves UNC into the NCAA quarterfinals for the 10th time in program history and improves the team’s record this year to 29-0. Including a perfect 18-0 mark in 2020, the Tar Heels have won their last 47 dual matches overall–a program record.
