The North Carolina Department of Transportation said a pair of intersections in Hillsborough are scheduled to be converted to all-way stop designs next week.
In a release on Friday, the department said two intersections on West King Street, which currently features a continuous traffic flow, will be altered to all-way stops. In cooperation with the Town of Hillsborough, NCDOT Traffic Services plan to install stop signs at King Street’s junctions with Hassel Street and Wake Street, which are one block apart.
The new configuration is intended to improve safety, the department said in its release. The change should address an existing lack of sight distance from Wake and Hassel streets onto King Street.
Weather permitting, installation of the stop signs is scheduled for Monday, according to the release. NCDOT encouraged drivers to travel slower and be mindful of the crews working along the stretch through the day.
