A major pile-up of vehicles on Interstate 40 in Orange County Wednesday afternoon left one person dead and several others injured, according to emergency services.
An increase in snowfall and cold temperatures on Wednesday led to rapidly deteriorated road conditions in Orange County and the surrounding area — causing several crashes and traffic slowdowns.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office alerted drivers at 12:20 p.m. to Jones Ferry Road between Old School Road and Springhill Forest Road being closed to through traffic.
