Drivers using two popular Hillsborough roads may experience some delays due to repaving in the coming weeks.
The Town of Hillsborough shared a release on June 15 alerting residents to a repaving project being conducted by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. A contractor for the state department will begin paving sections of U.S. Highway 70 and Churton Street beginning on Monday.
According to the release, repaving on U.S. 70 will be completed first and is expected to take around 20 days to complete. Paving will be done on the highway between the Alamance County line and North Churton Street. Then, Churton Street will be paved from U.S. 70 south to U.S. 70A the following few days.
The state Department of Transportation maintains both roads and says work schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions.
The Town of Hillsborough said drivers should be prepared for lane shifts, lane closings and flaggers to be on scene while repaving is completed.
