UPDATE: On Tuesday morning, shortly before noon, Chapel Hill Police shared an alert saying Rebecca Le had been safely located.

The Chapel Hill Police Department turned to the public’s help on Monday in locating a missing teenager last seen over the weekend.

An alert from the department said that Rebecca Le, a Chapel Hill resident, was reported missing after not being seen since Saturday around 4:30 p.m. Police said, at that time, Le was in the area of Booker Creek Road — which is in a neighborhood near Erwin Road and Eastwood Lake. Monday’s release said Le is not believed to be in any danger.

Le is described as 5-foot-2 and weighing around 95 pounds. Chapel Hill Police said it’s not known what outfit the teenager was last wearing, so there was no suggestions for potential clothing for the public to recognize.

The police department said anyone with information on Le’s whereabouts or wellbeing is encouraged to call 911 or contact Chapel Hill Police directly at 919-968-2760. Those who wish to remain anonymous can also call the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC CrimeStoppers hotline at 919-942-7515 or visit the CrimeStoppers website.
