This series of posts will be made monthly on Chapelboro to help inform our community when local government meetings will be. All meeting days, locations and times may be subject to change. Check respective town websites for additional information.
With a spring holiday falling on the first weekend of April, many local governments are seeing a few changes to services to begin the month. But several meetings are slated for each of our community’s governing bodies in the following weeks, as governments prepare for budget season and weigh in on policies, proposals and projects.
Here is a full list of the scheduled meetings for elected officials across Orange and Chatham Counties for the month of April.
Chapel Hill Town Government
The Chapel Hill Town Council will see its slate of meetings begin on Wednesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. From there, the elected officials are expected to hold a work session on Wednesday, April 14, at 6:30 before another business meeting the following week on Wednesday, April 21. All meetings for the town council, as well as other advisory boards and commissions, will be held virtually.
The public is encouraged to register for Town of Chapel Hill meetings in webinar fashion if they want to participate in public comment, but all videos can be live-streamed and accessed after completion on the town website in the following days.

Carrboro Town Government
After a de facto two-week break, the Carrboro Town Council is set to return with its virtual, weekly Tuesday business meetings.
The town’s elected officials are slated to hold meetings on April 6, April 13, April 20 and April 27, with all four set to begin at 7 p.m. Video can be streamed through the Town of Carrboro’s website.

Hillsborough Town Government
The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners also had a two-week pause in their meeting schedule due to Easter Monday on April 5. The board’s bi-weekly meeting pattern will pick up later in April, beginning on Monday, April 12. The board is scheduled to meet again on Monday, April 26.
Both business meetings are set to be held virtually and will begin streaming at 7 p.m. on the town’s YouTube page.

Orange County Government
After two weeks of no formal business meetings, the Orange County Board of Commissioners will begin April with a meeting on Tuesday, April 6. The following week, on Tuesday, April 13, will be for a board work session exclusively to discuss the details of a proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The county commissioners will then conduct a business meeting on Tuesday, April 20 and a separate work session on Thursday, April 22.
All the Orange County Board of Commissioners meetings and work sessions are slated to begin at 7 p.m. and will be done virtually.

Chatham County Government
The Chatham County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to hold its monthly meeting on Monday, April 19. The meeting will combine the board’s work session and business meeting, which is set to begin at 2 p.m. The board is expected to meet in-person at the Historic Chatham County Courthouse in downtown Pittsboro, a shift from the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center where meetings were held in 2020.
