As we move out of February and into March, local government officials are looking ahead to a busy spring. Town and county leaders will face development questions, budget issues — and of course the ongoing pandemic, with Orange County’s mask mandate still in place for now.
Here is when elected officials in Orange County and Chatham County will meet in March.
Chapel Hill Town Government
The Chapel Hill Town Council will kick off its month on Wednesday, March 2, with a virtual work session at 6:30. Council members have only one item on the agenda: a discussion of redevelopment at the Police Station property on MLK Boulevard.
After that, the Town Council will meet every Wednesday for the rest of the month: regular meetings on March 9 and 23, and another work session on March 16. All meetings are taking place virtually for now.

Carrboro Town Government
The Carrboro Town Council also has a busy month ahead, with virtual meetings four Tuesdays in a row. The first is this Tuesday, March 1, with an agenda that includes a status update on the 203 S. Greensboro Project.
After that, the Town Council will also meet on March 8, March 15, and March 22. For updated meeting details and agenda items for the Carrboro Town Council, click here.
Hillsborough Town Government
The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners met already this week, hearing recommendations from the Mayor’s Task Force on Re-Imagining Public Safety and discussing the agenda for an upcoming budget retreat on Monday, March 21. That budget retreat will make for a busy month for the town board, with a rare stretch of three consecutive Monday night meetings: commissioners will also hold a regular meeting on Monday, March 14, and a work session on Monday, March 28.
Each meeting of the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners is set for 7 p.m. The public will be able to view and listen to the meetings by live streaming video on the town’s YouTube channel.

Orange County Government
Like the Carrboro Town Council, the Board of Orange County Commissioners also meets on Tuesday, March 1, also at 7:00 p.m., also with an agenda that includes an update on the 203 S. Greensboro Project. In addition, the board will also discuss Orange County’s proposed state legislative agenda for 2022. County commissioners will discuss that agenda with Orange County’s State House and Senate delegation at an annual Legislative Breakfast on Monday, March 21.
In addition to those two meetings, Orange County Commissioners will also hold a work session on Thursday, March 10, and a regular meeting on Tuesday, March 15. All meetings will take place in person, in the Whitted Building in Hillsborough.

Chatham County Government
The Chatham County Board of Commissioners has only one meeting scheduled in March: a combined work session and regular meeting on Monday, March 21, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
