This series of posts will be made monthly on Chapelboro to help inform our community when local government meetings will be. All meeting days, locations and times may be subject to change. Check respective town websites for additional information.
While many local governments either canceled or postponed meetings in March due to the ongoing spread of the novel coronavirus, many are working to hold meetings over teleconference in April. Below is a list of scheduled meetings for the respective governments in our community. Some advisory boards and commissions are also endeavoring to begin holding meetings again and to see their schedules, visit the specific local government’s website.
Many of the teleconference meetings, while unavailable to live public comment, have ways to submit questions or comments about agenda items or other topics ahead of the meeting.
Chapel Hill Town Government
The Chapel Hill Town Council met on April 1 for a special meeting over teleconference. You can find the link to that video here.
Beyond that meeting, all town board, committee and council meetings have been postponed or canceled as of Thursday, April 2, except one. The Community Design Commission had a teleconference meeting slated for 3 p.m.

Carrboro Town Government
The Carrboro Town Council had four meetings slated for April before the COVID-19 outbreak caused the town to cancel all public meeting through March. It is unclear whether the Tuesday meetings of April 7, 14, 21 and 28 on the town calendar will proceed as teleconference meetings. If so, all meetings will likely begin at 7 p.m.
The town government held a handful of special meetings in March over teleconference.

Hillsborough Town Government
Hillsborough’s Board of Commissioners have two regular meetings on their calendar for April, with neither being indicated as canceled. They are slated for Monday, April 13, and Monday, April 27.

Orange County Government
The Orange County Board of Commissioners has conducted a few teleconference meetings during the outbreak. The county government’s calendar has the board scheduled for three business meetings and two work sessions in April. The board meetings are slated on Tuesdays for April 7, 21 and 28. A budget work session is on the calendar for Tuesday, April 14, and a normal work session is slated for Thursday, April 23.

Chatham County Government
The Board of Chatham County Commissioners’ lone meeting for April is scheduled for Monday, April 20. It is unknown whether the meeting will be conducted over teleconference methods.
