The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance is back in 2022 for its 18th iteration, and this year’s lineup for the North Carolina festival has been formally announced to include some of the usual suspects alongside a suite of new names playing in Pittsboro from May 5 to May 8 this year.
This year’s spring festival at Shakori Hills will be hosted by Americana stalwarts Donna The Buffalo and feature headlining performances from soul, funk saxophone legend Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, North-Carolina based Sam Fribush Organ Trio featuring modern guitar legend Charlie Hunter, psychedelic roots rockers Cabinet, singer-songwriter darling Ryan Montbleau Band, bluegrass up-and-comers Kitchen Dwellers, synth rockers Jimkata, Cuban folklorists Cortadito, and over 50 more artists across 72 acres outside of Pittsboro and four stages. The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance is a non-profit event that benefits the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center — which itself is a non-profit. The Shakori Hills Community Arts Center provides free or greatly reduced music and arts programs to rural communities in Chatham, Orange, and Durham counties.
