A goal and two assists from freshman forward Brianna Pinto helped lead the third-ranked UNC women’s soccer team to a 7-1 blowout on the road over the Syracuse Orange.
The win improved UNC to 11-2-1 in 2018, with a perfect 6-0 record in the ACC. Syracuse, meanwhile dropped to 3-11-0 with an 0-6 record against conference opponents.
Bridgette Andrzejewski kicked things off for the Tar Heels with a goal in the fifth minute, before Julia Ashley’s header made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors. Both goals were assisted by Pinto.
Syracuse then got its only goal of the game from Meghan Root in the 28th minute.
After taking a 3-1 lead into halftime, UNC rattled off four second-half goals to give the match its final scoreline.
Perhaps no number illustrates the overall dominance like the total shots statistic–as the Tar Heels out-shot Syracuse 29-5.
