Led by two goals from star midfielder Brianna Pinto, the No. 2 ranked UNC women’s soccer team cruised to a 6-0 victory on Tuesday night at Dorrance Field over Columbus State.
It took less than four minutes for UNC (15-1-0) to find the back of the net, as Abby Allen took advantage of a great corner kick to score her second goal of the season.
Rachel Jones added a goal in the eighth minute to give the Tar Heels a quick 2-0 lead, which would turn into a 4-0 advantage by halftime on goals from Pinto and Talia Dellaperuta.
After the break, Isabel Cox scored in the 53rd minute then Pinto added her second goal of the evening with less than five minutes remaining in regulation.
The Tar Heels finished with 22 shots in the match, compared to just five for Columbus State (6-2-2)–a Division II opponent with nowhere near the firepower UNC possesses.
