UNC junior midfielder Brianna Pinto was selected Tuesday as the ACC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals in the Tar Heels’ 7-0 win at Tennessee this past Saturday.
Pinto and teammate Ruby Grant each had hat tricks against the Volunteers, becoming the first Tar Heel teammates to accomplish the feat in the same game since 1984.
The Durham native leads UNC with 10 goals this season, a number good enough for second in the ACC.
Pinto–a three-time All-ACC selection–was recently selected No. 3 overall in the NWSL Draft by Sky Blue FC, where she will play professionally once the NCAA spring season has concluded.
UNC is 13-1 combined across the fall and spring, with the team’s only loss coming to Florida State in the ACC Championship Game back in November. In two games this spring against Delaware and Tennessee, the Tar Heels are 2-0 and have scored 12 goals without allowing any on the other end.
Next on the schedule for Pinto and the Tar Heels is a road match at Villanova on Thursday.
