The No. 2 seed UNC women’s soccer team began its run in the NCAA Tournament on Friday night in Matthews, North Carolina with a 2-0 victory over Denver in the second round.

Abby Allen found the back of the net in the 41st minute to give the Tar Heels (16-1-0) a lead they would ultimately hold on to the rest of the match.

UNC then received some insurance in the second half when Rachael Dorwart scored in the 70th minute, picking a perfect time to score her first goal of the season.

Denver (17-3-1) managed just six shots in the match compared to 17 for the Tar Heels, with just two of those shots ending up on target.
