Talia Dellaperuta scored twice on the road Saturday evening, as the No. 2 UNC women’s soccer team opened its spring season with a dominant 5-0 win at Delaware.

It took just over 26 minutes for Dellaperuta to score the opening goal, which would be the only time either team scored in the first half.

In the second half, UNC (12-1-0) came out and scored less than three minutes into the period when Abby Allen’s header off of a free kick doubled the Tar Heels’ lead.

Not until the 75th minute did All-American Brianna Pinto score UNC’s third goal of the evening, a score that was quickly followed by Dellaperuta’s second of the night.

Alexis Strickland found the back of the net as well in the 87th minute to give the game its final scoreline.

It was a dominant effort that saw the Tar Heels rack up a whopping 30 total shots compared to only three for Delaware (2-2), marking the first time UNC has recorded that many shots since racking up 36 against Miami back in 2018.
