Thirty NCAA Division I women’s soccer players were nominated Wednesday for the Senior CLASS Award, including UNC defender Julia Ashley.

The award recognizes the top senior player in the nation that excels in four specific areas: community, classroom, character and competition. It also focuses on the total student-athlete—and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Ashley has been one of the Tar Heels’ best players so far in 2018, tallying two goals and two assists in nine games while also leading the team’s defense as well.

UNC is 6-2-1 this season, and will have its next game on Thursday against Pittsburgh.
