UNC earned the No. 2 overall seed for the upcoming NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, which released its 27-team field on Sunday.

The Tar Heels are 15-3 so far this season, and are coming off their third consecutive ACC Tournament title. It also marks the program’s 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

A first-round opponent will not be determined until the conclusion of Friday’s game between Virginia Tech and Georgetown. The winner advances to face UNC on Sunday at 1 p.m.

That game will be played at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh due to construction on Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill.

“We are excited to compete in an extremely competitive NCAA Tournament,” UNC head coach Jenny Levy said.  “I am glad we were rewarded for our body of work, and I am confident that we are battle-tested and ready for the challenge ahead.”
