UNC women’s lacrosse star Marie McCool was one of four finalists selected on Thursday, for the annual Honda Sport Award.

Presented annually by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards group for the last 41 years, the honor is given to the top women athletes across 12 different sports.

The winner of each Sport Award is then named a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the 2017 Honda Cup.

McCool earned ACC Midfielder of the Year honors after a stellar junior season where she scored 50 goals and dished out 19 assists.

She is also one of just two current college players on the U.S. national team.

The other players nominated for the women’s lacrosse Honda Sport Award are: Kenzie Kent (Boston College), Kylie Ohlmiller (Stony Brook) and Zoe Stukenberg (Maryland).

A winner will be announced next week after administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools place their votes.
