A trio of Tar Heel women’s lacrosse players were named Thursday to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, a list of 50 players considered to be candidates for the honor–which recognizes the National Player of the Year.

Attackers Katie Hoeg and Jamie Ortega join goalkeeper Taylor Moreno as the three Tar Heels who were recognized.

Hoeg leads UNC with 22 points through the team’s first four games, a number that includes a team-high 16 assists. Ortega–last season’s ACC Freshman of the Year–has a team-high 18 goals to go with 21 points. Moreno has posted a save percentage of .532.

These three outstanding athletes have led the Tar Heels to a 3-1 record so far this year, and will look to lead the team to victory this Saturday when they open their new on-campus stadium against Northwestern.
