Friday night marked the regular season finale for the 24th-ranked UNC wrestling team, as the Tar Heels traveled to face the No. 11 Cornell Bears–who put up a convincing 32-6 victory at the Friedman Wrestling Center.
Cornell (13-2) won eight of the ten matches during the dual, on the way to its ninth consecutive team victory–a streak that extends all the way back to Dec. 30 against No. 4 Missouri.
Seniors Troy Heilmann (ranked No. 8 at 149 pounds) and Ethan Ramos (No. 16 at 174 pounds) represented the only winners of the evening for the Tar Heels.
Heilmann earned a 10-7 decision over unranked Will Koll, while Ramos won his match 6-3 over Brandon Womack–another unranked opponent.
UNC finishes the regular season with a 9-11 overall record and a 3-2 mark against conference competition.
