The 14th-ranked UNC wrestling team got back to winning ways on Friday night in Pittsburgh, snapping a two-match losing streak with a 23-12 victory over No. 15 Pitt.

Austin O’Connor–the nation’s top-ranked wrestler at 149 pounds–won by pin-fall to give the Tar Heels six points, while Josh McClure added five with a technical fall win at 157 pounds. Together, the duo represented nearly half of the team’s scoring.

UNC also received decision victories from Zach Sherman (141 pounds), Clay Lautt (174), Devin Kane (184) and Brandon Whitman (285).

The Tar Heels are now 3-2 in dual matches this season, with a 2-2 record against ACC competition. Pitt fell to 3-3 and 1-3 inside the conference.
