A two-goal performance from junior Zoe Redei helped carry the third-ranked UNC women’s soccer team to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Marquette Golden Eagles on Sunday evening at Koskinen Stadium in Durham.
Redei scored both of her goals within eight minutes of one another late in the first half to give the Tar Heels (4-0-1) a 2-0 lead, while Julia Ashley and Madison Schultz each scored later in the game to pad the team’s lead.
The UNC defense recorded its third consecutive clean sheet in the process, and has now gone 378 minutes and 50 seconds without surrendering a goal.
Marquette (0-4-1) managed to record four shots in the match, but not a single one of them ended up on target.
The blowout also allowed Tar Heel head coach Anson Dorrance to give 27 different players some action, with his team building a 3-0 lead by halftime.
